As of 2018, one of the main construction materials required for offshore wind power plants were low alloy and electrical steel, and copper, amounting to around 200,000 metric tons and 191,000 metric tons, respectively. As of that year, construction materials between onshore wind and offshore wind power plants differed significantly.
