PlayStation 4 (PS4) is the eighth generation video console developed by Sony. It was first released in November 2013 as a successor to the PlayStation 3. Some seven years later, sales of the console dropped to 3.6 million in 2020 with the introduction of PlayStation 5. This brought lifetime sales of Sony's latest console to over 100 million units.
