In 2020, the total number of tourists visiting Hong Kong amounted to around 12.3 million. That year, the number of inbound visitors arriving in Hong Kong through the Tuen Mun Ferry Terminal control point amounted to around 14 thousand, down from about 260 thousand in the previous year. In 2021, no inbound visitor arrival at this terminal was recorded.

The passenger clearance services at Tuen Mun Ferry Terminal have been
suspended with effect from 30 January 2020 and cross-boundary passenger ferry
services ceased formally on 8 June 2021.
