According to an analysis of remittances in South Korea in 2018, the U.S. was the top destination country where Koreans in their 40s sent or received remittances from, amounting to an average of 44 thousand U.S. dollars in 2018, but closely followed by China. An average of 43 thousand dollars in remittance was sent to or received from China. Canada was third with an average amount of 27 thousand dollars. In terms of how many remittances were made to each country, the U.S. was the most popular, followed by Canada and China.
