As of January 2020, public sector motor insurers across India earned approximately 70 billion Indian rupees in gross weighted premiums in financial year 2020. Contrarily, the private motor insurers in the country earned around 176 billion rupees in gross weighted premiums that same year indicating a higher profitability and growth for the private sector.
