The majority of married women in Japan reported to eat regularly dinner together with their spouses, according to a survey conducted in July 2022. At the same time, over 59 percent of respondents claimed to have an inactive sex life in their marriage.
Frequency of common activities among married couples in Japan as of July 2022
Original question: "We would like to ask about your communication as a couple. Please answer A to K regarding your situation in the past year."
Respondents were asked to select between "often", "sometimes", "rarely", and "never" for each item.
Questionnaires were distributed to respondents during individual visits and, in exceptional cases, mailed to absent households. Completed questionnaires were collected in person or submitted by mail or via the online survey system of the government.
Figures may not add up to 100 percent due to rounding by the source.
