In a survey conducted among married women in Japan in July 2022, over 59 percent of respondents claimed to never have sexual intercourse with their spouses. The survey revealed that sexual intercourse was by far the least frequent shared activity between married couples in Japan.

Original question: "We would like to ask about your communication as a couple. Please answer A to K regarding your situation in the past year."
Questionnaires were distributed to respondents during individual visits and, in exceptional cases, mailed to absent households. Completed questionnaires were collected in person or submitted by mail or via the online survey system of the government.
