According to a Rakuten Insight survey in 2019 on consumer behavior in Japan, about 49 percent of male respondents mentioned the taste of alcohol-free beer as a reason against drinking it. Considerably more men than women did not like the taste of non-alcoholic beer. Men were also twice as likely to prefer the effects of alcohol when drinking beer.
