By 2030, the demand for small-scale liquefied natural gas (ss-LNG) in Italy is expected to reach roughly 82 terawatt hours. The road transportation sector, in particular, is forecasted to have a high demand for ss-LNG of nearly 50 terawatt hours. Small-scale liquefied natural gas is expected to meet the demand for cleaner fuels as regulations for the transport and shipping sector become stricter. LNG produces less emissions than coal or petroleum. The other advantage of ss-LNG is that it can be used in remote locations as an off-grid power source.
