In 2021, about 21.9 percent of the crude steel output in the steel production industry stemmed from recycled steel scrap, due to an increase in scrap-intensive electric furnace production. The scrap steel usage for steel production has increased in China over the recent years without having a great influence on the Chinese steel scrap trade.
