As of 2021, Italian families' monthly expenditure on food was consistent. The highest amount was spent on meat, and the most numerous households spent on average 165.8 euros per month. By contrast, 59.9 euros on meat were spent by one component households. The lowest expenditure for one member households was recorded for oils and fats and amounted to 9.8 euros, while the lowest expenditure for families with five or more members was on beverages such as coffee, tea and cocoa, and amounted to 20.9 euros.
