In 2023, the leading country of destination for avocado exports from Mexico was the United States, with a value of 2.46 billion U.S. dollars. Ranking second was Canada, with almost 203 million U.S. dollars, followed by Japan, with over 77 million U.S. dollars. This corresponded to the leading countries of destination for avocado exports, based on volume. That year, the total export volume of avocados from Mexico reached over 2.8 billion U.S. dollars.
In order to meet the domestic and international demand, fresh avocado production in Mexico was estimated to reach a volume of 2.54 million metric tons in 2022.
