In a survey of 2018, about 77 percent of young male respondents aged between 18 and 30 believed that the decree law on femicide represented a social achievement. Additionally, the share of young women within the same age group and considering this decree law a social achievement added up to roughly 92 percent.
Femicide is defined as the act of killing a female person for reasons related to her gender and to patriarchal hierarchies.
