In 2017, a survey asked brand owners and retailers in five European countries which packaging material is the most versatile to be used in more diverse and complex distribution channels. The majority of respondents stated that folding cartons and flexible plastics had such characteristics. In particular, 13 percent of respondents in Spain and 61 percent in Germany had the opinion that carton packaging was the most suitable material for multi- and omnichannel retail.
