According to a survey conducted by Ipsos on the state of happiness in India, it was found that about 45 percent of respondents thought that the feeling of being control of their lives was a big source of happiness. Globally, about 84 percent of respondents thought feeling in control of their lives brought them greatest or some happiness.

According to the source, respondents were more urban and educated, with higher incomes than their fellow citizens. As such, the results should be viewed as reflecting the views of a more 'connected population'.
