About 43 percent of Japanese respondents stated that having a meaningful employment contributes to some extent to their personal happiness, according to a survey conducted in June 2019 by Ipsos on happiness. Among 28 countries in the survey, Japan showed the largest share of respondents claiming to not gain happiness from a meaningful job, along with Malaysia.
