In a survey on the state of happiness in Australia conducted by Ipsos in 2019, around 51 percent of respondents stated that having free time gave them or could give them some happiness. Globally, 45 percent of adults reported the same during the survey period.

Respondents were asked to complete the following: "The amount of free
time I have - Does or could give me greatest happiness, does or could give me some happiness, doesn't or couldn't make me happy or happier, does not apply to me".
