The CCI is the primary index released by China's shipbuilding industry to indicate the extent of the national shipbuilding capacity utilization and to forecast future industry trends. While a value of the CCI near 700 points is regarded as reflecting a regular utilization of the industry, values above 900 express a strong economic overheating, and values below 500 show a strong economic cooling of the industry.
