According to a survey conducted in 2020 by Ipsos on global levels of happiness, around 40 percent of South Korean respondents stated that having more money did or could give them greatest happiness. Overall, around 86 percent of all surveyed South Koreans said it was a source of happiness.

The question asked was as follows: "Having more money does or could give me greatest happiness, does or could give me some happiness, doesn't or couldn't make me happy or happier, does not apply to me."
