As of 2022, Albania had the highest share of women in Europe aged 15 to 49 years using traditional contraception, such as periodic abstinence and withdrawal, with almost 40 percent using this form of contraception. North Macedonia and Serbia both had relatively high levels of traditional contraception use at over 30 percent. Less than one percent use traditional forms of contraception in Belgium and Germany.
