According to a survey conducted by Ipsos on female beauty in May 2019, at 84 percent, Indian women were most likely to consider their mothers as an influence on their personal beauty routines. Friends came at a close second as an influence on Indian women for beauty routines, while Instagram and other photo sharing sites ranked the lowest at 60 percent.
Factors influencing personal beauty routine amongst women in India as of May 2019
The question asked in the survey was as follows: "Thinking now about your
own personal beauty routine, how influential has each of the following been to you?"
Respondents ranked the questions on a scale from very influential to somewhat influential.
According to the source, respondents were more urban and educated, and/or with higher incomes than their fellow citizens, The results should be viewed as reflecting the views of a more "connected" population.
