ROE of the largest banks in the UK 2012-2023
All five of the largest banks in the United Kingdom performed exceptionally well in terms of return on tangible equity (RoTE) in the first half of 2023. HSBC reported a RoTE of 20.8 percent, by far the highest in the observed period, and the highest among the observed banks. All other leading banks reached their highest RoTE in the observed timeline, with NatWest Group ranking second, with a RoTE of 18.2 percent.
