In 2022, over half of the employees in the Netherlands had taken sick leave in the previous year. 25-to 54-year-olds had the highest absence rate, at over 45 percent. By comparison, of the 65-to 74-year-olds, just over 40 percent had taken sick days in the past 12 months.
