According to a survey conducted on food and beverages companies in Malaysia in January 2019, 32 percent of the respondents stated that they were concerned nutrition reformulation could lead to a loss of revenue. Malaysia has one of the highest rates of obesity in Asia, and the government has taken measures to curb this problem such as introducing a sugar tax in 2019.
