In 2019, a survey conducted in France displays that the favorite activity of children in the country was playing outside. However, video games were also a pretty famous activity among French children, with 85 percent of those surveyed stating that they enjoyed playing a video game.

Thus, many parents also like playing video games with their child. In France, a country where the penetration rate of video games is increasing among younger generations since 2013, 42 percent of parents declare that they occasionally play video games with their kids. The development of the gaming industry since the nineties, and its attractiveness to children and teenagers, has sometimes set new rules in the family. In 2014, half of French parents admitted that they restricted the use of internet and video games by their children.
