In 2021, Mexico ranked 55th out of a total of 130 countries in the Global Innovation Index. This is the second consecutive year where the country sustained this ranking. In the period between 2011 and 2020, Mexico's position in the ranking went up from 81st place in 2011 to 55th in 2021. In the latter year, the Latin American country reached an overall score of 34.5 out of a maximum of 100.
