As of 2019, some consumers in Belgium were sceptical about purchasing cultured meat for a number of reasons. Roughly a fifth of consumers surveyed in 2019 indicated that they were not interested in purchasing cultured meat because they considered it unnatural and thought it was too expensive. Meanwhile a further 14 percent of respondents indicated that they distrusted it, while around five percent of respondents were concerned about its effects on employment.
