Between 2009 and 2022, the number of entries at arthouse movie theaters (classified "Art et Essai" in France) in France fluctuated. In 2009, the number of entries amounted to 53.84 million and reached its peak of over 71 million entries in 2019. Due to the pandemic, the numbers caved in, failing to reach 25 million entries in 2020. By 2022, the figures recovered again, reaching an amount of over 55 million entries again.
