From 2013 to 2016, a total of 28 money laundering offenses were related to outgoing mutual legal assistance (MLA) requests from Hong Kong. Financial crimes including fraud, money laundering and corruption accounted for a large share of the MLA requests. As an essential financial hub in the world, Hong Kong is also facing increasing problems of money laundering, terrorist financing and other illegal financial crimes.
