Attendance at domestic movies in the Dominican Republic 2014-2022
In 2022, movie theaters across the Dominican Republic sold around 420 thousand tickets to domestic films, up from 150 thousand a year earlier – a growth of 180 percent. Despite the annual increase, the 2022 figure amounted to less than one-third of the 890-thousand attendance reported in 2019, before the pandemic. The Dominican Republic had one of the lowest numbers of cinema admissions per capita in Latin America in 2022.
