Fanzines, commonly known as dojinshi in Japan, often feature self-published works of amateur artists. The sales of dojinshi is boosted especially through the Comic Market (Comiket), a convention held in Tokyo twice a year that allows artists to distribute their works. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, both the Summer Comiket and the Winter Comiket attracted several hundred thousand visitors each year.
