China won 15 medals at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, surpassing its best performance of 11 medals at the 2010 Winter Olympics. To improve the outcome at the 2022 Olympic Games, the Chinese government had increased the spending on winter sports infrastructures and promotion. The goal was to build 650 skating rinks and 800 ski resorts by 2022. Similar policies were also used to boost the medal number of China at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
