The number of criminal cases in this category continuously increased between 2011 and 2017, ranging from 480 to 972 offenses of such nature registered by the country's law enforcement authorities.

According to the source, the crimes include: 1. Activities by public and religious or other organizations' or media or by individuals that involve planning, organization, preparation, and execution of acts aimed at a forced change of the foundations of the constitutional system and integrity of Russia; undermining Russian security, seizure or misappropriation of authority, creation of illegal armed groups, carrying out terrorist activities, incitement to racial, national, or religious hatred or the social hatred connected to violence or calls to violence; humiliation of national dignity, execution of mass riots, hooligan acts, and vandalism acts motivated by ideological, political, racial, national, or religious hatred or enmity against a specific social group. 2. Propaganda and public demonstration of Nazi symbolics or similar symbolics to the point of confusion. 3. Public calls for implementation or commission of the mentioned activities. 4. Financing the mentioned activities or other assistance in their implementation, including by providing financial means, real estate, educational, printing, and material facilities, telephone, fax, and other types of communications, information service, and other material and technical means.
