According to a 2018 survey, the main reason given by Generation Xers' to justify the lack of celebration of Independence Day in Mexico is not having the habit to celebrate, or not liking it, with 24 percent of respondents mentioning it as a main cause. That same year, 6.5 percent of respondents stated that they didn't celebrate the date because they don't like being in crowded places.
Independence Day in Mexico is an important national holiday officially celebrated on September 16th. However, every year a certain share of the population decides not to celebrate the date.
