As of June 2019, the Indian naval force had an authorized strength of around 74 thousand sailors who were below the officer rank. However, there was a shortage of almost 17 thousand additional personnel as per government data.
Notably, the Indian armed forces was one of the largest military forces in the world, with China leading the way.
