Kazakhstan has the world's largest reserves of the transition metal chromium, amounting to some 230 million metric tons as of 2023. The total global reserves of chromium amounted to an estimated 560 million metric tons that year. Chromium metal is highly valuable due to its hardness and corrosion resistance.
