According to a survey conducted by Ipsos in May 2019, 42 percent of Indian respondents felt that India should only trade with countries that have a good human rights record, even if that resulted in harming the economy. However, 40 percent of respondents disagreed with this and felt that as long as India's economy benefits, it should trade with any country irrespective of their human rights record.
