In a 2019 survey about personal experiences of hate speech online in New Zealand, 19 percent of respondents aged 30 to 39 said they had experienced personally directed hate speech within the last twelve months. In the same period, 13 percent of respondents 70 years and older also stated they had experienced online hate speech.
