According to a survey conducted by Ipsos in May 2019, almost half of Japanese respondents felt that the country should always follow international laws on human rights when deciding what to do, with around 24 percent feeling the laws should never be broken. At the same time, around 19 percent felt that human rights should not be put above other considerations.
