According to a survey conducted by Ipsos in May 2019, only 20 percent of Japanese respondents stated that the national military should intervene to stop other countries' war crimes, even if its infringing on their sovereignty. The survey revealed that even though around 31 percent of Japanese felt foreign intervention to stop the war crimes of other countries is justified, less respondents support the intervention of the Japanese military.
