In 2018, BRI (Belt and Road Initiative) countries in Southeast Asia got the highest score for macroeconomic attractiveness. Among BRI countries, countries in Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East are the key destinations attracting investment.

According to the source, the report covers 80 countries including the countries in the Big Data Report of the Belt and Road (2018) published by the National Information Center and four countries (East Timor, Panama, New Zealand and Madagascar) which signed BRI cooperation memoranda with China between 2017-2018.
The macroeconomic attractiveness was calculated by the source based on size of economy, investment environment, consumption demand, labor supply, tax burden and money supply.
