In 2024, respondents in Mexico were asked to spontaneously name their favorite taco. About 27 percent of the respondents said that their favorite tacos were the classic "al pastor" tacos, known all over the country but mostly eaten in central Mexico. Ranking second were carne asada tacos, particularly popular in the north, with 13 percent of the respondents listing them as their favorite.
