In 2018, the majority of museums in Italy preferred to use paper catalogs for cataloging procedures. According to the study, 80 percent of the institutions involved in the survey confirmed to use this specific cataloging tool. Similarly, 73 percent of museums also claimed to use databases. Conversely, only 17 percent of the institutions affirmed to use either tailor made or open source software.
