After five consecutive years of strong growth, the number of crowdfunding platforms in Chinese market dropped from 427 to 280 in 2017. The Chinese Securities Regulatory Commission defined equity crowdfunding as illegal practices in the end of 2016, which could be one of the reasons causing the significant closure of this kind of platforms.
