When survey respondents were asked about their expectation on who will provide for their retirement income as of 2018, a majority expected the greatest proportion of it to come from their own savings, investments. About 46 percent of the respondents also stated that the government would provide for their old-age income. Indians on average, receive lower government benefits and social security for retirement compared to global standards.
