The Malaysian low-cost airline, AirAsia, reached a market share of 36 percent in its home market, Malaysia in 2023. This was followed by Thailand, with 19 percent market share. AirAsia uses the Kuala Lumpur airport (klia2) as main hub and the airline operates in 25 countries.
