Between 2018 and 2019, the majority of Russians believed that banning usage of smartphones and similar electronic devices in schools would lead to an improved academic performance. In 2019, 23 percent of the surveyed stated that the ban would not affect students’ educational achievements. In 2018, only 17 percent defended the aforementioned statement.
How the ban on usage of non-educational electronic devices in school classrooms would affect schoolchildren's academic performance?
The respondents had to answer the following question: "In your opinion, if schoolchildren were forbidden to use mobile phones, smartphones and other non-educational electronic devices in the classroom, how would this affect their studies? Students would...?" The respondents had to choose only one option among the provided alternatives.
