High prices and the lack of charging stations are the main reasons deterring Thai consumers from purchasing an electric car. According to the survey conducted by Rakuten Insight on January 2024, 53 percent of the Thai respondents stated that electric cars are still too expensive to purchase.

The survey was conducted between January 19 to 31, 2024 among a total of 15,528 Thai respondents aged 16 years and older. Other surveyed countries include China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.
