In the last five years, the share of respondents who got their news from print media in Malaysia has declined from 45 percent in 2017 to 19 percent in 2023. This decline in print media corresponds with a rise in online media and social media as a source of news in Malaysia, which was the go-to source of news for 89 percent of respondents in Malaysia in 2023.
