A survey conducted in Singapore in may 2019 found that 59 percent of respondents between the ages of 45 to 54 years stated shopping as their favorite hobby, compared to 36 percent of respondents between the ages of 18 to 24 years, and 14 percent of respondents aged 65 years and above. Shopping is an energy and resource-consuming hobby, and one would need to have a certain amount of purchasing power and energy to be able to enjoy shopping as a leisure activity.
